Overview of the Position

This is an opportunity to become a vital part of HF's esteemed Aviation Division, representing a diverse array of aviation insurers and their clients globally.

Our compact team specializes in the defense of various aviation-related claims and legal disputes, particularly focusing on supporting international airports in managing claims and litigation stemming from their routine aviation operations. As a Litigation Executive, you will collaborate with the team to ensure that clients feel assured their legal matters are handled professionally and efficiently, contributing to the smooth functioning of the firm. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, typically involving three days in the office and two days working remotely, although full-time office work is an option if preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The successful candidate will engage in defending claims and litigation utilizing HF's Case Management System, managing claims and supporting senior team members with intricate and high-value cases.
  • Depending on your experience, your workload may include approximately 90 fast-track cases along with assisting on around 15 more complex claims.
  • Ensure compliance with Solicitors' Accounts Rules and Law Society Practice Management Standards for all cases.
  • Handle files competently on a delegated basis while adhering to client Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Seek supervision and guidance for cases to ensure adherence to proper procedures and processes.
  • Conduct telephone negotiations, liaising with third-party solicitors, insurer clients, and insured clients, while documenting the outcomes of these interactions.
  • Draft various legal documents, including applications, offers, proposed orders, and directions.
  • Participate in telephone conferences, applications, and court hearings.
  • Manage time effectively to meet court deadlines using organizational skills and HF's case management system.
  • Oversee cases from the initial letter of claim to resolution in a cost-effective manner.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the litigation process and provide solutions to legal challenges.
  • Effectively manage your time and workload.
  • Complete Management Information (MI) reports and understand SLAs.
  • Adhere to HF's established practices and procedures.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist in the overall efficient operation of the office.
  • Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the Management Team.

The existing teams consist of driven professionals working in a collaborative and friendly atmosphere. Our department is sociable, with numerous team-building activities available. Client interaction is high in this team, and some travel may be required, potentially internationally.

Qualifications: You should possess an interest in civil litigation, including personal injury claims, property damage claims, contractual disputes, and aviation-related laws such as the Montreal Convention and EU1107/2006. Previous experience in aviation is not mandatory, as comprehensive training will be provided. Foreign language skills are not necessary. You should have completed your LPC or have at least six months of experience as a Litigation Executive/Fee Earner in a Defendant insurance environment. Ideally, you will have experience handling personal injury claims using the portal and DCP. Familiarity with the CPR, the SRA Code of Conduct, and their application will be advantageous. You should also be capable of meeting or exceeding billing targets. Experience with hourly rate charging is preferred but not essential. A client-focused approach and exceptional client care skills are essential.
