Youth Support Specialist

Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire

Salary: £95 to £110 per day

GSL Education's South Yorkshire Branch is on the lookout for dedicated individuals to join our client school as a Youth Support Specialist. This position presents a remarkable opportunity to gain significant experience in an educational setting while assisting students in their development.

Role Overview: As a Youth Support Specialist, you will be instrumental in delivering exceptional care and assistance to young residents, empowering them to reach their full potential and overcome the obstacles they encounter. You will collaborate with a committed team to foster a secure, nurturing, and stimulating environment where every young person feels appreciated and supported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer emotional and practical assistance to young individuals in our care, aiding them with daily tasks, educational pursuits, and personal growth.
  • Guide and support young people in regulating their behavior and emotions, utilizing positive reinforcement strategies to enhance self-esteem.
  • Develop and assess personalized care plans in partnership with other professionals, ensuring that each young person's needs are addressed and their objectives are met.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with young individuals, their families, and other professionals involved in their care. Keep precise records and provide regular updates on their progress.
  • Ensure a safe and secure living environment by following health and safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and responding appropriately to any incidents or emergencies.
  • Organize and engage in recreational and educational activities that foster social skills, personal development, and community engagement.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a residential care or support role is beneficial, though not mandatory.
  • A sincere enthusiasm for working with young individuals and a dedication to positively influencing their lives.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities to establish trust and rapport with young people.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • A relevant qualification in Health and Social Care or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3) is preferred but not required.
