Position Overview: As a Youth Support Specialist, you will be instrumental in delivering exceptional care and assistance to young residents, empowering them to reach their full potential and overcome the obstacles they encounter. You will collaborate with a committed team to foster a secure, nurturing, and stimulating environment where every young person feels appreciated and supported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer emotional and practical assistance to young individuals in our care, aiding them with daily activities, educational tasks, and personal growth.
  • Guide and support young people in regulating their behavior and emotions, utilizing positive reinforcement strategies to enhance self-esteem.
  • Develop and assess personalized care plans in partnership with other professionals, ensuring that each young person's requirements are addressed and their objectives are met.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with young individuals, their families, and other professionals involved in their care. Keep precise records and provide regular updates on their progress.
  • Ensure a safe and secure living environment by adhering to health and safety standards, conducting risk assessments, and responding appropriately to any incidents or emergencies.
  • Organize and engage in recreational and educational activities that foster social skills, personal development, and community engagement.

Essential Qualifications for a Successful Youth Support Specialist:

  • Prior experience in a residential care or support role is beneficial, but not mandatory.
  • A sincere enthusiasm for working with young individuals and a dedication to positively influencing their lives.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities to establish trust and rapport with young people.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and overnight stays.
  • A relevant qualification in Health and Social Care or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3) is preferred but not required.
