Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Orthoptic Assistant. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our qualified Orthoptists in delivering an efficient and effective service.

Main Duties
  • Support the qualified Orthoptists in providing patient care and conducting clinical procedures.
  • Participate in the delivery of care to patients in the Orthoptic Department, including obtaining patient histories, conducting visual acuity tests, and interpreting test results.
  • Undertake delegated clinical care duties and activities, including department-based clinical procedures and clinical observations, as directed by registered professionals and within clearly defined parameters.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth running of clinics and coordination of patients.
Requirements
  • Essential criteria: Numeracy and Literacy Level 2, Care certificate, Level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of patient and clinical care duties.
  • Desirable criteria: Attendance at foundation improvement training and the new and aspiring leaders program, equipment training.
