Budwood, a division of Polaris Community, is a local organization dedicated to providing Residential Care and Support for children and young adults facing emotional and behavioral challenges, as well as social and emotional mental health issues. Our residents often come from difficult backgrounds, and our mission is to create a stable and nurturing environment. We aim to offer high levels of support and guidance to ensure their safety while equipping them with essential skills for a successful transition to independence and adulthood.

We are seeking dedicated Residential Support Workers to join our team in Poole on a casual basis, providing coverage for shifts as needed. This role offers the flexibility to work according to your availability without any contractual obligations. You will be part of a team that delivers personalized care packages tailored to the needs of our children and young adults. At Budwood, you will join a supportive and collaborative environment that values each team member as an individual. All staff receive training in 'Developmental Trauma' and therapeutic parenting to enhance their understanding and ability to provide the best support for our young people.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children and young people, with an understanding of the challenges they face in care.
  • Flexibility in availability to cover sickness, annual leave, and various shifts, including sleep-in shifts as required.
  • Commitment to promoting, safeguarding, and protecting the welfare of our young residents.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and trusting relationships with our young people.
  • Team player who can accept guidance and direction.
  • Encouragement of individual interests and development of our young residents.
  • Possession of a Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People's Workforce/NVQ Level in Health & Social Care or equivalent – or willingness to pursue the necessary qualifications.
  • A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for travel purposes.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the role.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check if selected for the position, with costs covered by us.
  • Experience with Emotional Behavioral Disorder, Social/Residential Work, or Youth Work is advantageous.
