Job Title: Electronics Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Electronics Design Engineer to join our team at BlueGate Consulting. As an Electronics Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing new products and maintaining/upgrading existing products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Produce practical, robust, and cost-effective electronic designs with appropriate documentation.
  • Manage design projects from conception to volume manufacture, ensuring technical, cost, and product brief requirements are met.
  • Develop and implement design solutions for new products, including schematic, PCB layout, mechanical, and software design.
  • Specify microcontrollers for embedded systems and program in C.
  • Ensure full test and validation of designs to specification before release for manufacture.
  • Lead production test solutions and support NPI (New Product Introduction) initiatives.
  • Collaborate with purchasing and suppliers to select cost-effective technologies.
  • Provide engineering support to junior engineers to develop their skills.
  • Support other business areas as required.
Requirements:
  • Education to degree level in electronics.
  • Experience in design for manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of analogue and digital circuits and PCB layout.
  • Programming skills in C for embedded design (STM32 preferred).
  • Programming skills in Python for testing solutions.
  • Practical experience in hand-building and debugging prototype circuits.
Desirable Skills:
  • Programming skills in VB/VBA.
  • LEDs for lighting applications.
  • Lighting controls and sensors.
  • SMPS (Switch-Mode Power Supply) and battery charging.
  • EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) knowledge.
