Position Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and self-driven professionals to join our Talking Therapies (Improving Access to Psychological Therapy/IAPT) Service.

The Talking Therapies team comprises dedicated Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs), Cognitive Behavioral Specialists, and Counsellors who provide a variety of support aimed at facilitating positive changes to alleviate stress and anxiety while enhancing overall wellbeing.

A vacancy has arisen for a qualified Cognitive Behavioral Specialist who is committed to delivering impactful and effective therapeutic interventions to tackle prevalent mental health issues. This role is part of a team that values the importance of community and personal growth.

Note: Only applicants who have completed their training as a CBT specialist will be considered. Full BABCP accreditation is required.

Key Responsibilities

Our Cognitive Behavioral Specialists provide accessible screening, assessment, and treatment for mild to moderate mental health challenges. This role offers service users a greater degree of choice and flexibility through a comprehensive range of therapeutic options, including psycho-educational workshops, individual therapy sessions, and group or computerized CBT programs.

Candidates should demonstrate a proven history of achieving high-quality service outcomes in line with established performance metrics. Strong interpersonal skills, effective time management, the ability to work independently, and a passion for contributing to an evolving IAPT environment are essential.

The Talking Therapies service is innovative and forward-thinking, providing prompt and accessible mental health screening, assessment, and treatment while empowering individuals to play an active role in selecting their preferred interventions.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Recognized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Post Graduate (Master's Level) diploma.
  • Provisional CBT Accreditation with BABCP.
  • Professional qualification in health or social care, RMN, or Social Worker OR KSA equivalence.

Knowledge Requirements:

Essential Knowledge:

  • Advanced understanding of cognitive behavioral therapy theory and practice.
  • Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex and sensitive information to clients, their families, caregivers, and other professionals.
  • Familiarity with the NHS Talking Therapies (formerly IAPT) model and a willingness to contribute to clinical service development.

Experience Requirements:

Essential Experience:

  • Extensive experience working with a diverse range of clients, addressing various clinical severities while maintaining professionalism in challenging situations.
  • Significant experience in delivering specialized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy assessments and treatments for clients in Adult Mental Health, effectively managing a personal caseload.
  • Experience in risk management and safeguarding in accordance with relevant policies.
