Adult Support Worker Job Description

Reed is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Adult Support Worker to join our team in Scarborough. As an Adult Support Worker, you will provide exceptional care and support to adults with diverse needs, promoting independence and well-being in a compassionate and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Personal Care: Assist with bathing, dressing, and toileting, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
  2. Meal Preparation: Help with cooking and feeding, encouraging healthy and balanced diets.
  3. Medication Management: Support service users with their medication routines, ensuring safety and compliance.
  4. Household Tasks: Aid with cleaning, laundry, and other domestic duties to maintain a comfortable living environment.
  5. Social Activities: Encourage participation in social and recreational activities, fostering community and engagement.
  6. Care Plans: Develop and implement personalized care plans tailored to each individual's needs and preferences.
  7. Health Monitoring: Regularly check and report on the health and well-being of service users.
  8. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation.
  9. Relationship Building: Build strong, positive relationships with service users, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
  10. Safe Environment: Promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all.
Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is a plus but not essential.
  2. Education: NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable.
  3. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  5. Empathy: Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature.
  6. Organization: Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  7. IT Skills: Basic IT skills for record-keeping and communication.
