Polaris Community is looking for dedicated and motivated Residential Childcare Support Workers to join our team on a casual basis, providing essential coverage for shifts as needed. This role offers the flexibility to choose your working hours without any contractual obligations.
Our mission is to create a positive and enduring impact on the lives of young individuals transitioning from care to independence. We offer accommodation and support to help them achieve independent living and educational success.
As a Residential Childcare Support Worker, your responsibilities will include delivering a tailored, high-quality service to young people residing in their own flats or shared accommodations.
The young individuals supported by Polaris Community may face vulnerabilities, and it is your duty to ensure that the environment in which you work is safe, welcoming, and conducive to their well-being.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adhere to person-centred risk assessments and support plans, collaborating with support staff for comprehensive handovers.
- Monitor changes in behaviour, documenting observations and reporting any shifts in the support needs of young individuals.
- Foster positive relationships with young people, colleagues, and professionals through effective communication, actively seeking ways to enhance the experiences of those in our care.
- Provide continuous support to young individuals, maintaining the standards expected of day staff, with a focus on the safety of vulnerable individuals.
- Execute necessary health and safety measures, including cleaning tasks, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Engage with external agencies such as law enforcement and emergency services as required.
- Assist young individuals in attending medical facilities or law enforcement offices when necessary.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in supporting vulnerable young people.
- Flexibility in availability, including willingness to work weekends.
- Possession of a Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People's Workforce qualification, NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, or a commitment to pursue relevant qualifications.
- A valid driving license and access to a vehicle for travel purposes.
- Proficient computer skills.
