Job Title: Senior LED in Paediatric Critical Care Transport Medicine

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Locally Employed Doctor (SLED) to join our Paediatric Critical Care Transport team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in the management of critically ill children and the transportation of patients to and from intensive care units.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of patient transfers, including giving advice at the initial referral call, coordinating logistics, and ensuring a safe and efficient transfer.
  • Work closely with the Paediatric Critical Care regional transport team to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in the design and delivery of education and training projects, including simulation training and audit projects.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of guidelines and quality assurance projects.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
Requirements:
  • Medical Degree and GMC registration.
  • ST6 or above in a relevant specialty.
  • MRCPCH/MRCP/FRCA or equivalent.
  • Experience in paediatric or adult intensive care and transportation of critically ill patients.
  • APLS and basic training in intubation, venous access, and arterial line insertion.
Desirable:
  • CCT in a relevant specialty.
  • Experience in anaesthesia, including higher level paediatrics.
  • Experience in managing patients with congenital cardiac disease.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Effective communication and team working skills.
  • Motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent organisation skills.
  • Ability to cope well under pressure and confidence in dealing with emergency situations.
Working Arrangements:

The successful candidate will work on a rotational shift system, including long days, nights, twilight shifts, and educational days. The role requires flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the team and patients.
