About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Mcphee Staffing Ltd in the United Kingdom. This is a full-time, permanent position with opportunities for growth and advancement within our company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in managing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring seamless execution of menu items and maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Train, supervise, and motivate kitchen staff to maintain high levels of productivity and efficiency, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Create and implement new menu items, taking into consideration food costs, customer preferences, and seasonal availability, while ensuring alignment with company standards.
  • Ensure that all dishes are prepared and presented according to company standards, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines, and monitor inventory levels to place orders for ingredients and supplies as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop and maintain relationships with local suppliers, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality ingredients.
  • Assist with menu planning and cost analysis to ensure profitability, making recommendations for improvement to the Head Chef.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and innovations, and make recommendations for improvement to the Head Chef, driving continuous improvement and excellence in kitchen operations.
  • Assist with scheduling and managing kitchen staff to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts, ensuring seamless execution of kitchen operations.
  • Conduct regular kitchen inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume restaurant or catering environment, with a strong track record of leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment, with the ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, with a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience is preferred, with a passion for delivering exceptional culinary experiences.
