Company Overview

Ventus International is collaborating with a prominent offshore wind energy developer to recruit a skilled and motivated Land Surveyor to play a vital role in advancing their project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and assist the external land representative in negotiating and securing comprehensive land rights necessary for the onshore infrastructure linked to offshore wind energy projects. This includes preparing all required documentation for Development Consent Order (DCO) submissions and applications to the appropriate Local Planning Authority (LPA).

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with both internal and external project stakeholders, including commercial and legal advisors.

• Aid in the formulation and execution of land rights strategies for projects, incorporating statutory powers and compulsory acquisition where applicable.

• Evaluate and provide insights and recommendations regarding all phases of land agreements, including temporary licenses, heads of terms, and option agreements, ensuring alignment with budgetary and commercial objectives.

• Collaborate closely with the Consents and Engineering teams to ensure that the proposed land rights acquisition aligns with the project design envelope and Environmental Statement, forming a solid foundation for a competent DCO application. This also includes ensuring consistency between DCO Limits, land plans, and works plans, as well as for Planning consent from Local Planning Authorities for non-DCO projects.

• Ensure that the land obligations of the projects are systematically compiled and compliance is monitored throughout all preconstruction survey activities.

• Identify, document, and manage risks associated with land assembly and acquisition using the project's risk management systems.

• Prepare and contribute to project governance documentation as necessary to facilitate decision-making and approvals.

• Assist in the development, approval, and management of budgets for land acquisition throughout the lifecycle of the projects.

• Provide regular updates and reports to the Consent Lead for dissemination to internal stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrated experience in land acquisition and surveying, particularly within offshore wind projects or linear and/or electrical infrastructure projects is desirable.

• Exceptional interpersonal, communication (both oral and written), leadership, and teamwork abilities.

• Proven self-starter with the capacity to collaborate across project teams and lead through influence.

• Ability to uphold commercial interests in relation to agreements being negotiated while minimizing project risks.

• Experience in budget management and report writing.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

• Commitment to achieving planning consent for projects and relevant experience in this area.
