Job Title: SEND Specialist Teacher

Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced Tutor with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to provide 1:1 educational support to a student in South Molton.

About the Role

We work closely with local authorities, schools, and SEND Teams in the Devon area, providing qualified and experienced tutors to work with children in looked after care (LAC/CLA), pupils in mainstream schools that require additional educational support, and young people who are not currently accessing mainstream education.

We are currently looking for an experienced teacher/tutor to work 1:1 with a Year 10 student who is not currently accessing mainstream education and is sitting their GCSEs in the summer term. The tutor will be required to deliver core subject support (English, Maths & Science) and will be delivering 15 hours per week as an alternative provision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver 1:1 educational support to a student with SEND needs
  • Provide core subject support (English, Maths & Science)
  • Work with the student to develop their educational targets and goals
  • Collaborate with the student's school and SEND Team to ensure a cohesive approach to their education
  • Deliver 15 hours per week as an alternative provision
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching within a school environment or tutoring students on a 1:1 basis
  • Ability to teach at least 1 or all of the core subjects
  • SEND experience, particularly with SEMH and challenging behaviour
  • Kind, caring, and compassionate nature with the proven ability to reengage students with learning
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding & Prevent Training issued within the last year
Eligibility
  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional references
