Job Objective:

Important Note: This position requires PVG Membership.

As of the specified date, candidates applying for roles that necessitate PVG membership will be responsible for the associated costs. This requirement applies exclusively to positions with a full-time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above.

The Council will initially cover the PVG membership fee, which is £18 for existing members or £59 for new applicants. This amount will be deducted from the first full month's salary.

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will provide high-quality education to designated students and actively participate in the professional and corporate environment of the school, collaborating with pupils, staff, and relevant external organizations in accordance with the SNCT agreements.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

- Relevant teaching qualification
- Full GTC (Scotland) registration in the appropriate subject or sector, or eligibility for such registration
- PVG scheme membership – Working with Children

Key Competencies:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Capability to teach the complete curriculum in the relevant subject and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Skill in managing and organizing classes through effective planning and preparation for teaching and learning.
  • Ability to assess, document, and report on student progress to inform diverse teaching and learning strategies.
  • Competence in preparing students for examinations and qualifications, including assistance with administration as needed.
  • Contribution to maintaining good order and addressing the broader needs of the school.
  • Engagement in school and council planning and improvement initiatives.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and supporting the growth of colleagues, including probationary and student teachers.
