Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Conflict Adviser to join our team at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. As a Conflict Adviser, you will play a critical role in supporting the UK's diplomatic, development, and consular work around the world.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining situational awareness through regular analysis and assessment of conflict dynamics, needs, and corresponding response.
  • Communicating effectively with colleagues, senior officials, and Ministers within FCDO and HMG, as well as external partners.
  • Developing policy and contributing to influencing strategies to position the UK at the forefront of conflict policy engagement.
  • Providing technical oversight and leading technical advice into the design, delivery, monitoring, evaluation, and learning of FCDO conflict projects and programmes.
  • Establishing constructive relationships with key individuals and organisations, including representing FCDO with relevant partners and in relevant forums.
  • Maintaining cutting-edge understanding of and application of evidence and building the capability of others.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A demonstrable track record of delivering conflict outcomes at Expert Level through strong capability in the conflict technical competencies.
  • Significant relevant experience, as outlined in the Conflict Framework linked above.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, senior officials, and Ministers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop policy and contribute to influencing strategies.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
