Key Responsibilities

As part of the Suffolk Therapeutic Fostering team, you will contribute to building therapeutic relationships among caregivers, children, and professionals. You will be an essential member of a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with clinical psychologists, social workers, trainers, and fellow family support specialists. The objective of this role is to empower young individuals through a series of coaching sessions aimed at developing their self-coaching abilities. The focus is on progression, goal achievement, and enhancing self-esteem, confidence, and self-worth.

Coaching involves identifying and pursuing goals that resonate with the young person, providing guidance and flexible, child-centered support throughout their journey.

Qualifications and Skills Required

We are looking for candidates with relevant experience in coaching, mentoring, and supporting young individuals, along with the ability to foster positive interactions. Ideally, applicants should be enthusiastic about delivering training to both young people and foster caregivers, while also supporting the broader team in these initiatives.

A relevant level 3 practitioner qualification or equivalent experience in a related field.

About the Team

Our team provides therapeutic support services to foster caregivers across the county. The team includes a clinical lead and a clinical psychologist who offer guidance and support to team members, other professionals, and foster caregivers, while also developing and delivering therapeutic training programs. Social workers and family support specialists provide direct assistance to foster caregivers, offering a variety of training and therapeutic courses. We also provide innovative training programs for foster caregivers, Special Guardianship orders (SGOs), kinship caregivers, and adopters to enhance their caregiving capabilities. Additional training includes Theraplay Interventions, Positive Parenting, and child exploitation online protection (CEOP) IT Safety Training. The team works directly with young individuals to boost their self-esteem and equip them with essential skills for broader societal engagement. Our team is known for its supportive, creative, and passionate approach to supporting children and families.
