About the Role

You will primarily be situated within the Strategic Finance Team. Throughout your training, you will rotate across various roles within the broader Finance team, including financial accounting, Finance Business Partnering, treasury management, and internal audit. You will assist in overseeing the Council's accounting functions and aid in the implementation of new accounting standards, working flexibly within the Finance team to support the Council's objectives.

This exposure to diverse daily tasks and project work will equip you with the comprehensive skills, knowledge, and understanding necessary to become a well-rounded professional, preparing you for a future position as a senior finance expert within our Finance service.

We are committed to training and supporting you on your journey toward a successful career as a leader in Public Sector Finance. You will receive guidance throughout your studies from a designated training manager.

This is a career-graded position. As you advance through the CIPFA qualification by achieving examination passes and demonstrating skills and behaviors, your salary will progress from grade 3 to grade 7.

As a flexible worker, you will need to connect to our network to access digital resources, which can be done from home or an office location as required. You will be expected to work from the office a few times a week, depending on your role and team needs.

You will be highly numerate, accurate, and possess an inquisitive mindset with excellent attention to detail. Strong ICT skills are essential, and you will have the opportunity to further develop these. You will also demonstrate good written and verbal communication abilities and be capable of prioritizing your workload to meet deadlines. A commitment to your personal and professional development is crucial.

A degree or AAT qualification is desirable but not mandatory.
