Job Summary

This is a specialist administrative role within the Ministry of Justice, providing support to the Security Intelligence Department and assisting the Head of Security in delivering an effective intelligence system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse and evaluate intelligence information to inform decision-making and prevent security breaches.
  • Produce a monthly Intelligence Report and disseminate it to relevant stakeholders.
  • Regularly update line management on local security issues and intelligence received.
  • Ensure the security intelligence system is updated, maintained, and used effectively.
  • Check security information, determine its importance, and recommend responses.
  • Collate and distribute monthly targets for searching and mandatory drug tests.
  • Deliver in-house training on intelligence-related procedures.
  • Liaise with external agencies and disseminate intelligence and SIR information.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the Security Manager on current trends and issues.
  • Monitor RIPA and CHIS procedures, as well as prisoner communications.
  • Support the Corruption Prevention Manager in detecting staff wrongdoing.
  • Act as liaison for the BRENT secure fax and point of contact for ViSOR issues.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders on Counter Terrorism and Extremism.
  • Interview prisoners on extremist bullying or Counter Terrorism Unit matters.
  • Brief and liaise with residential units on covert testing.
  • Compile and maintain subject profiles, problem profiles, and analytical reports.
  • Assess seized items for extremist content and compile reports on TACT prisoners.
Administrative Tasks
  • Organise and maintain accurate records.
  • Act as contact point for communications and distribute to relevant departments.
  • Complete monitoring returns and input requisitions on the finance database.
  • Co-ordinate awareness sessions and prepare paperwork for checking.
  • Correspond with stakeholders and agencies to share information.
  • Maintain and check establishment databases and logs.
  • Collate information on Service Delivery Indicators and arrange meetings.
Requirements

The job holder must be able to deal effectively with staff at all levels, have a good understanding of MS Word and Excel, and be able to collate and analyse information.

The role requires working regular unsocial hours, and a payment will be made to recognise this.
