Heavy Construction Plant Technician

We are seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to join our team at SMT GB. As a key member of our East Anglia - South East and South Coast team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service to our internal and external customers.
Your primary focus will be on ensuring the highest level of service quality, actively seeking revenue opportunities, and collaborating with our Customer Support Representatives and Line Managers to drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities:- Service and repair Volvo construction equipment and other heavy machinery.
- Identify mechanical issues using technical knowledge and diagnostic equipment, providing guidance and advice to customers.
- Work in a commercially focused manner, seeking additional service revenue opportunities and promoting our aftermarket solutions.
- Meet or exceed service quality and productivity targets, highlighting areas for improvement to management.
- Ensure timely software updates are installed on equipment.
- Complete accurate and detailed electronic reports, timesheets, and tablet inputs in real-time.
- Order necessary parts and return them in good condition at the end of each job.
- Be available for overtime and reasonable call-outs, and participate in relevant product or systems training courses.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural / HGV mechanics, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in heavy construction plant maintenance, including technical competence in diesel engines, transmissions, drive lines, hydraulics, and electrics.
- Advanced diagnostic and trouble-shooting skills, with a comprehensive understanding of hydraulics, electrics, and EATS.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with colleagues, management, and customers.
- A cost-conscious mindset to ensure maximum profitability.
- High-level diagnostic skills and the ability to problem-solve.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and Microsoft Outlook.
- High attention to detail and a conscientious approach to all aspects of the job.
- High levels of responsibility, reliability, honesty, and trustworthiness.
- Ability to understand technical literature and systems.
- Experience in welding and fabrication.
