About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work in partnership with Primary Care as part of the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS).

Job Summary

The post holder will lead on the delivery of a high-quality, user-centred service in primary care, enabling people with mental health needs and/or social care problems to improve their well-being and functionality. This will involve providing timely access to an integrated service, promoting independence and choice, and preventing, reducing or delaying the need for more specialist services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead on the service delivery to ensure the mental health and associated social care needs of service users are addressed.
  • Provide a combined consultation, advice, triage and liaison function within the GP practices.
  • Offer screening and advice/signposting to patients where there is an indicated mental health problem.
  • Provide high-quality interventions to patients across all ages, including brief psychological intervention where appropriate.
  • Facilitate onward access to other secondary care-based services or third sector services integrated within the mental health pathway.
Requirements
  • Relevant professional qualification - degree level or equivalent.
  • Significant post-qualification experience in mental health.
  • Experience of mental health risk assessment and intervention.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
