About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust. As a key member of our Mental Health Support Team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality mental health services to children and young people in educational settings.

Your primary responsibility will be to assess and deliver evidence-based interventions to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. You will work closely with educators, families, and other professionals to develop and implement effective plans for intervention and agreed outcomes.

As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, you will be expected to provide supervision and caseload management to junior staff members, including EMHP/CWP practitioners and trainees. You will also be responsible for supporting junior staff members with supervision and discussion about cases with a higher level of risk and potential co-morbid presentations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and deliver outcome-focused, evidence-based interventions in educational settings for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
  • Work in partnership to support children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their parents/carers, families, and educators in the self-management of presenting difficulties.
  • Develop and implement effective plans for intervention and agreed outcomes in collaboration with children, young people, and their families and educators.
  • Provide supervision and caseload management to junior staff members, including EMHP/CWP practitioners and trainees.
  • Support junior staff members with supervision and discussion about cases with a higher level of risk and potential co-morbid presentations.
Requirements
  • CBT qualification for children/young people and families.
  • Successful completion of the CYP IAPT EMHP supervisor training or willingness to undertake.
  • Ability to carry out 1:1 therapeutic mental health interventions with children and families.
  • An understanding of evidence-based, low-intensity interventions for mild to moderate mental health needs.
  • An understanding of mental health and wellbeing support within community settings.
