At Bluefront Care LTD, our Family Assessment Centre plays a vital role in conducting parenting evaluations mandated by the Courts and Local Authorities, specifically concerning children involved in care proceedings.

Your role will involve close collaboration with children and their families, alongside other professionals and external organizations, to deliver a variety of services and support aimed at safeguarding children from harm.

As a Social Worker, you will engage in assessments alongside Family Support Workers both at our Centre and within the community.

We seek a Social Worker with substantial experience in statutory settings, particularly in working with children and families. You should possess expertise in safe practice techniques and demonstrate a proven ability to conduct thorough and analytical parenting assessments, as well as provide evidence in court. An up-to-date understanding of relevant legislation and guidance is essential.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating and mentoring Family Support Workers
  • Evaluating parenting capacity while considering the child's wishes, rights, and the nature of the issues requiring intervention
  • Preparing comprehensive reports and maintaining detailed records for various requirements, including court proceedings
  • Participating in the Social Worker role as part of the Centre's operational rota
  • Acting as a deputy for the Registered Manager when necessary
  • Delivering parenting sessions aligned with assessment criteria
  • Upholding the ethos and values of the Centre
  • Building positive relationships with families, staff, and other health and social care professionals
  • Effectively planning and organizing workloads
  • Exhibiting strong administrative skills and computer proficiency
  • Committing to the continuous improvement of personal practice to enhance service delivery
  • Demonstrating sensitivity to a diverse range of service users and addressing their varied needs
  • Implementing the Centre's policies, procedures, and instructions
  • Ensuring ongoing quality improvement in placement planning and risk assessment processes
  • Supporting staff in developing placement plans and goals for children, young people, and families
  • Addressing day-to-day safeguarding and risk management issues
  • Assisting staff in preparing for and attending key meetings, case conferences, and reviews
  • Maintaining and fostering connections with Local Authority Officers and Services

Person Specification:

  • Post-qualification experience working with children and families in a statutory context
  • Experience in Court/Safeguarding Teams
  • Strong knowledge of child development theories
  • Current knowledge and experience of relevant legislation and guidance related to child protection
  • Experience in conducting complex assessments
  • Excellent observational and assessment skills linked to child development
  • Proven ability to manage conflict effectively, with strong organizational skills
  • A child-centered approach to practice
  • Willingness to contribute to supervision and team meetings for professional development
  • Flexibility in working hours to meet the Centre's needs
  • Proven skills in safe practice techniques and adherence to risk assessments

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA in Social Work
  • MA in Social Work or equivalent
