About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Clinical Fellow with a solid background in diabetes and Endocrinology to join our research initiative focused on the remission of type 2 diabetes (T2D) through weight management strategies. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Dr Ahmad Al-Mrabeh's diabetes research team at the Centre for Cardiovascular Science/Queen's Medical Research Institute.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing the recruitment, management, and implementation of this clinical investigation, working in conjunction with the Chief Investigator. You will also engage with the diabetes research team at the General Western Hospital and the Clinical Research Facility staff to ensure the effective execution of this MRC funded study.

This position is a full-time commitment (40 hours per week) and primarily requires on-campus presence during standard working hours, with occasional flexibility for out-of-hours tasks.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • MRCP with the right to practice in the UK.
  • Specialty training in Diabetes & Endocrinology.
  • Extensive experience in diabetes management along with a nuanced understanding of clinical, dietary, and lifestyle education.
  • Demonstrated interest in research with aspirations to pursue an MD or PhD.
  • Exceptional time management and communication abilities.

An Honorary NHS contract will be pursued for the successful candidate, who must be eligible to hold such a contract and be registered with the General Medical Council.

Salary will be based on prior service in NHS training grades, typically aligning with your current incremental point or the nearest equivalent. If you are a member of the NHS Pension Scheme and currently in a clinical role, you may have the option to remain a member of the NHS Pension Scheme.
