Job Opportunity:

The University of Edinburgh is seeking a highly qualified Academic Research Fellow to contribute to its growing research, teaching, and outreach programme on contemporary Muslim societies in a globalised world.

About the Role:

This is a three-year fixed-term fellowship ideal for a person recently qualified to PhD level, or a more established scholar looking to develop their research, teaching, and outreach skills and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research into the contemporary social, political, and religious dynamics of a key region, or regions, of the Muslim world.
  • Contribute to the University's teaching activities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a particular focus on the Centre's MSc The Globalised Muslim World programme.
  • Develop and contribute to research outputs and visibility of the Centre by developing their own research and collaborating with colleagues on shared projects.

Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline.
  • Strong publication track record.
  • Ability to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
  • Ability to engage non-academic audiences.
