Key Responsibilities
As a Clinical Educator/Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse in the Oxford Critical Care/Churchill Intensive Care Unit, you will:
- Serve as a role model for best clinical practices and Trust values.
- Collaborate with learners to foster their independent educational journeys.
- Implement an agreed-upon job plan to optimize educational delivery, ensuring safety and quality of patient care.
- Manage your time effectively to balance clinical education with administrative duties.
- Promote and contribute to an inter-professional learning atmosphere.
- Deliver educational programs at a divisional level, aligning with organizational goals.
- Engage with local and corporate practice development teams.
- Anticipate and address the educational needs of the service.
- Develop and maintain partnerships across various departments.
- Participate in audits, service improvements, and research initiatives relevant to the clinical educator role.
Clinical Practice
You will work closely with learners, delivering clinical care while employing coaching and mentoring techniques to identify learning needs and enhance standards. Your responsibilities will include:
- Demonstrating and promoting high standards of person-centered care.
- Utilizing a variety of inter-professional resources in your practice.
- Responding to unpredictable situations with professionalism and sound judgment.
- Planning, implementing, and evaluating person-centered care effectively.
Professional Development and Education
You will be expected to maintain your professional development through self-directed learning and collaboration with your line manager. This includes:
- Maintaining a professional portfolio and supporting others in doing the same.
- Participating in peer reviews to enhance clinical and educational practices.
- Advocating for a learning environment that encourages evidence-based practice.
Leadership and Management
As a leader, you will:
- Act as a resource for evidence-based practices.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team leads to implement practice development strategies.
- Ensure staff have annual appraisals and personal development plans.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Criteria
- Registered Nurse (Part 1 of the register) or Registered Allied Health Professional.
- Relevant UK Health-related Degree.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and experience in acute nursing.
- Familiarity with common office software.
- Experience in supervising and assessing colleagues and learners.
