About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Actuarial Specialist to join our team at Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS). As an Actuarial Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the Actuarial Manager to oversee and manage the technical and professional aspects of the work undertaken by the Funding Strategy Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Actuarial Manager to manage and oversee the technical and professional aspects of the work undertaken by the Funding Strategy Team.
  • Develop the systems used by the team.
  • Develop communication of technical issues.
  • Develop professional responsibilities and compliance.
  • Provide technical support for the actuarial input to the Scheme's valuation.
  • Oversee the technical development of the regular reporting of the Financial Management Plan monitoring, including coordinating inputs in respect of covenant and investment.
  • Provide technical support on the actuarial input to support the administration of the Scheme.
  • Support the Actuarial Manager in providing technical actuarial support to USSIM.
  • Support the Actuarial Manager in managing the relationship with Moody in relation to the valuation software (PFaroe).
  • Contribute to managing the working relationship between the Funding Strategy Team and the Scheme Actuary's Team.
  • Support the Actuarial Manager in developing actuarial materials for the executive and the Board.
About You

We are looking for a qualified Fellow of the Faculty and Institute of Actuaries with experience of managing both technical and professional aspects of actuarial work. You will have good communication skills to facilitate understanding of the issues.
