About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RGN) or Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our team as a Senior Substance Use Nurse at Turning Point. As a key member of our nursing team, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and supervision to our Specialist Substance Misuse Nurses, as well as providing direction to non-clinical staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical supervision to Specialist Substance Misuse Nurses and line manage non-clinical staff
  • Develop, implement, and promote evidence-based clinical practice in the area of alcohol dependency and substance misuse
  • Work closely with existing staff to develop and implement protocols for alcohol withdrawal and substance misuse management
  • Act as a point of contact for a cross-site, multi-disciplinary team of colleagues involved in the management and prevention of physical and psychosocial adverse consequences of alcohol and substance misuse
  • Deliver educational tools to ensure appropriate referral to existing Trust and community-based alcohol services
  • Support the organization and coordination of monitoring and audits of compliance, performance, and outcome of standards compatible with best practice
Requirements
  • RMN or RGN at degree level (or equivalent) with Current NMC Registration
  • Experience of working in and understanding of the substance misuse sector, particularly experience in relation to assessing and managing medically assisted alcohol withdrawal (MAW)
  • Experience of contributing to effective and safe care plans and discharge plans
  • Experience in delivering staff training/CPD
  • Awareness of health issues relating to substance misuse
  • 2 years in Substance Misuse at minimum band 6 level or equivalent
  • Experience of providing clinical leadership through managing and supervising multidisciplinary staff
  • Experience in multi-agency working and training
  • Awareness and experience of contributing to effective clinical governance
  • Experience in reporting and managing incidents effectively
  • Evidence of continuing personal development/revalidation and post-registration training in the nursing care, assessment, and treatment of substance misuse clients
