Position Overview

Fitch Ratings is in search of a Senior Manager of Software Engineering specializing in Java Applications. This pivotal role will be responsible for guiding the strategic vision, development, and execution of our Java-centric software solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the engineering strategy for Java applications, ensuring alignment with business objectives and priorities.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate software engineering teams, cultivating a culture of innovation and high performance.
  • Oversee the architecture, design, and implementation of robust Java applications, collaborating closely with Enterprise Data and Architecture teams.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery within defined timelines and scope.
  • Establish and monitor key performance metrics related to engineering quality and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development of tools, technologies, and standards that enhance Agile delivery practices.
Qualifications

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, along with:

  • Approximately 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Extensive expertise in Java and associated technologies (e.g., Spring, Hibernate, Java EE).
  • A proven history of managing and delivering large-scale, high-performance Java applications.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and microservices architecture.
  • Knowledge of DevOps methodologies and tools, with experience in Agile environments.
  • Experience within the Financial Services sector is highly desirable.
