About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Ophthalmic Technician to lead our team in the Medical Retina Diagnostic Hub at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of ophthalmic technicians, providing leadership and guidance to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Line managing a team of ophthalmic technicians, ensuring their sickness and absence are managed effectively
  • Supporting the Senior Ophthalmic Technician in the management of staff, including annual leave and appraisals
  • Leading and supervising staff allocated to work in the Diagnostic Hub
  • Ensuring all test activity and outpatient procedures are recorded accurately and submitted to the coding team
  • Participating in the training and development of new staff, including assessing NVQ level 3 competencies
  • Carrying out visual acuity testing for patients in accordance with Trust policy and national guidelines
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 2 A Levels (Grade C or above) or equivalent
  • Foundation degree in ophthalmic science and technology or equivalent
  • Minimum two years experience performing diagnostic tests on a range of ophthalmic devices
  • Demonstration of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Minimum 2 years experience in an ophthalmology environment
  • One year experience working in a healthcare / private environment
