About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Ophthalmic Technician Lead to join our team at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Medical Retina Diagnostic Hub, you will be responsible for leading a team of ophthalmic technicians and providing expert guidance on diagnostic testing and equipment maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of ophthalmic technicians in the Medical Retina Diagnostic Hub
  • Provide expert guidance on diagnostic testing and equipment maintenance
  • Assist in the education and training of junior staff
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the team, including scheduling and resource allocation
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of test results and patient data
  • Collaborate with the senior nursing team to develop and implement training programs for new staff
  • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures
Requirements
  • 2 A Levels (Grade C or above) or equivalent
  • Foundation degree in ophthalmic science and technology or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years experience performing diagnostic tests on a range of ophthalmic devices
  • Demonstration of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Minimum 2 years experience in an ophthalmology environment
  • One year experience working in a healthcare / private environment
