Special Educational Needs Support Assistant (SEN SA) - Individualized Assistance

Location: Blackburn
Contract Type: Long-term Temporary Position

We are looking for a committed and empathetic Special Educational Needs Support Assistant (SEN SA) to deliver individualized assistance for a student with special educational needs (SEN) in Blackburn. This role is a long-term temporary position that requires a dedicated individual with the necessary qualifications and experience to positively influence the student's educational and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to a student with SEN, ensuring their educational and emotional requirements are fulfilled.
  • Assist in the execution of Individual Education Plans and support methodologies.
  • Collaborate closely with educators, guardians, and other professionals to foster a nurturing and effective learning atmosphere.
  • Manage and address challenging behaviors using suitable techniques and strategies.
  • Support the student's social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Assist with personal care tasks as necessary, ensuring the student's comfort and dignity.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A relevant qualification related to working with children in educational settings (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, NVQ Level 2/3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development, etc.).
  • Prior experience working with children with SEN, especially those with SEMH and challenging behaviors, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting the educational and personal development of children with SEN.
  • Capability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.

All pay rates quoted will include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advertisement is for a temporary position. In some instances, the option to transition this role into a permanent position may become available later.
