About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Prison Officer at HMP Ashfield, Bristol. As a Prison Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of prisoners, staff, and visitors in our prison.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise prisoners in all aspects of prison wing activity, including work and education programs.
  • Oversee operational matters such as prisoner headcounts, prison cell searching, security, and administrative processes.
  • Manage prisoners who are at risk of self-harm and provide support and guidance to help them rehabilitate.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a safe and secure environment within the prison.

Requirements
  • A strong commitment to rehabilitation and the wellbeing of prisoners.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and prisoners.
  • A high level of physical fitness, with the ability to pass a fitness test.
  • A willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
Selection Process

The selection process will include an online assessment, a competency-based interview, and a fitness test. Successful candidates will be invited to attend a 4-week Initial Training Course (ITC) at the prison, which will provide comprehensive training and preparation for the role.
