Senior Critical Care Specialist

Oxford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom Oxford University Hospitals Full time

Position Overview

The Role

The Senior Critical Care Specialist will operate within the medical rota to deliver care to patients experiencing critical health challenges in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit. This advanced position requires the individual to ensure consistent and high-quality management for patients in critical care and those experiencing deterioration.

The Specialist will engage in clinical tasks that were traditionally performed by physicians, employing a high degree of clinical judgment and decision-making skills. To perform at this level, the individual must have the endorsement of the employer and successfully complete a comprehensive two-year clinical training program. An MSc in Critical Care (or equivalent) is also necessary to fulfill the criteria for professional classification.

The Specialist is responsible for their professional conduct, working independently as an expert within the Critical Care environment. It is essential for the Specialist to recognize any limitations in their expertise and operate within the established code of conduct of their regulatory body.

Main Responsibilities

Clinical Duties
