Job Summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Critical Care Nurse Specialist to join our Neurosciences Intensive Care team. As a Critical Care Nurse Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the development of our team.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care that is underpinned by evidence-based practice and the Trust's values.
  • Work in partnership with patients, families, and friends to deliver personalized care and support.
  • Manage and direct the nursing care for a defined caseload of patients, ensuring effective communication with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain and develop high standards of nursing practice, reflecting the Trust's commitment to excellence and patient safety.
  • Develop and maintain general and specialist knowledge of nursing practice relevant to the clinical area.
  • Conduct yourself in a professional manner, adhering to the Trust's code of conduct and the NMC Code.
  • Provide senior nurse cover for the department in the absence of the Sister or Charge Nurse or their deputy.
  • Work proactively to ensure every hospital visit meets the needs of the patient and that patients are discharged in a timely manner, ensuring effective communication with the family and/or relevant agencies.

Person Specification
  • Registered Nurse or national certificate in area of practice
  • UK recognized degree in Nursing relevant to post
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of an NMC revalidation or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to prioritize own workload and that of others as appropriate
