Job Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist in Breast Cancer

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting access to clinical trials for patients with breast cancer.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support patients with their diagnosis of breast cancer and introduce the concept of clinical research.
  • Signpost patients to educational materials on clinical trials and address any queries.
  • Navigate patients to breast cancer trials potentially suitable for them.
  • Support patients commencing/continuing on breast cancer clinical trials, including aiding with any barriers.
  • Work closely with the academic team completing the independent evaluation of the project.
  • Be a figurehead for the project and be willing to present and talk to the media.

Person Specification:

  • Minimum five years post-registration experience in a cancer-related area.
  • Good working knowledge of Breast Cancer and the treatment pathway.
  • Research and clinical trials experience.
  • Experience of working with under-represented patient populations.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Advanced Communication Skills course.
  • Ability to work alone and under pressure.
  • Ability to manage complex situations both clinically and in terms of administration.
  • Proven clinical skills & sound knowledge base in Breast Oncology.
  • Knowledge of cancer patient experience.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse Nurse education qualification.
  • Masters qualification or evidence of work at Masters level.
