About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Operative Track Specialist to join our team at Network Rail. As an Operative Track Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of our rail network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain, inspect, and repair the land alongside the track network to ensure the railway is safe and efficient.
  • Specialize in Off Track maintenance, including vegetation management, drainage, and ancillary structures.
  • Work outdoors in all conditions, at all times of the year, day, or night, and be involved in demanding manual work.
  • Transport kit across tricky terrain and be safety-focused, respectful of rules, and a team player.
  • Support the team in maintaining equipment and provide lookout duties to keep the whole team safe.
Requirements
  • Teamworking: Work closely with the team to deliver safe and efficient work delivery.
  • Communication: Have good communication skills to work safely and effectively.
  • Proactive planning: Be punctual, have the van and equipment ready, and anticipate the needs of the team.
  • Working under pressure: Remain calm under pressure while working outdoors in all conditions.
  • Following rules and instructions: Understand and respect the rules, but also feel confident to challenge if you see a situation is unsafe.
  • Willingness to learn: Consistently develop your skills and competencies relevant to your discipline.
