Amazon's Canada team is seeking an experienced and analytical professional to join our Hardlines team as a Category Operations Specialist. In this role, you will work directly with a portfolio of strategic vendor partners to develop their business, acting as a liaison and executing a joint business plan.

The Category Operations Specialist position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a broad range of internal teams and management, developing skills and expertise across all three functional areas (In-stock, Vendor Management, and Site Merchandising) to grow and improve vendor success at Amazon.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Acting as the business owner for assigned vendors, possessing a complete understanding of internal and external variables that impact the business.
  2. Owning forecasting, monitoring, understanding and reporting on vendor performance, as well as driving strategic supply chain projects and promotions to achieve business objectives.
  3. Proactively negotiating costs, promotional opportunities, and other business inputs for assigned vendors.
  4. Conducting pricing and ROI analysis and making recommendations for initiatives that optimize profit margin.
  5. Managing Purchase Orders and In-Stock analysis for strategic brands.
  6. Optimizing the online presence and content of each product on the brand's portfolio.
  7. Developing and executing marketing plans to drive awareness and purchases for the brand.
  8. Driving cross-category initiatives to improve the operational process and deliver results.

Bachelor's degree or 3+ years of professional or military experience, with 5+ years of retail, operations, product or program management, or business management/consulting experience, including negotiations and delivering results. Experience with financial analysis and P&L ownership, as well as 3+ years of Excel experience.

Preferred qualifications include experience managing large data sets and utilizing to drive performance and process improvements, as well as experience in vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion, inventory management, and product development.
