Tax Services Associate for State and Local Affairs

Position Overview
As a Tax Associate at RSM, you will collaborate with a diverse range of companies, both large and small, across various sectors. You will cultivate strong working relationships with clients by gaining a deep understanding of their operations and challenges. Each year, associates engage in multiple team projects, contributing to various aspects of assignments rather than focusing on a single element. Key Responsibilities Include:
- Integrating state and local tax services with our existing clientele.
- Conducting tax planning and research activities.
- Gaining insight into state and local tax regulations and accounting standards.
- Analyzing clients' current tax processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend enhancements to minimize tax exposure.
- Collaborating with clients' IT teams to gather historical purchasing and sales data for reporting, auditing, and potential refunds or credits.
- Assisting clients in evaluating sales/use tax software systems that align with their compliance requirements and supporting the implementation process.
Basic Qualifications:
- A minimum of a B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- A major in Accounting.
- Willingness to travel to client locations, with access to reliable transportation.
- A preferred minimum GPA of 3.0.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Actively pursuing the CPA exam, with opportunities to gain the audit hours necessary for full certification.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other computer skills.
- Capability to work effectively within a team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation Range: $68,640 - $81,900. Selected candidates will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on individual and firm performance.
