We are seeking a highly skilled State and Local Tax Associate to join our team at RSM. As a key member of our tax services team, you will work closely with clients to provide expert guidance on state and local tax matters.
Key Responsibilities- Integrate state and local tax services with existing clients to ensure seamless delivery of tax solutions.
- Conduct tax planning and research tasks to identify opportunities for clients to minimize tax liabilities.
- Develop a deep understanding of state and local tax regulations and accounting pronouncements to provide informed guidance to clients.
- Review clients' current tax processes to identify inefficiencies and provide enhancements to improve tax compliance and reduce tax exposure.
- Collaborate with clients' information technology personnel to obtain data for tax reporting, audit procedures, and potential refund or credits.
- Assist clients in evaluating sales/use tax software systems to meet their compliance needs and support implementation.
- Minimum B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university.
- Accounting major.
- Travel to assigned client locations is required; must have access to reliable modes of transportation.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
- Working toward successful completion of the CPA exam; tax associates have the opportunity to obtain audit hours required for full certification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work effectively on a team.
- Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions, including education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $68,640 - $81,900
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
