Job Summary
We are seeking a State and Local Tax Associate to join our team. As a State and Local Tax Associate, you will work with large and small companies in various industries, developing strong working relationships with clients built on understanding their businesses and challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate state and local tax services with existing clients
- Complete tax planning and research tasks
- Develop an understanding of state and local tax regulations and accounting pronouncements
- Review clients' current tax processes to identify inefficiencies and provide enhancements to improve procedures and reduce tax exposure
- Work with clients' information technology personnel to obtain data for reporting requirements, audit procedures, and review for potential refunds or credits
- Assist clients with evaluating sales/use tax software systems that meet their compliance needs and support the implementation process
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university
- Accounting major
- Travel to assigned client locations is required; must have access to and ability to arrange for use of reliable modes of transportation to those locations
- Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Working toward the successful completion of the CPA exam; tax associates have the opportunity to obtain the audit hours required for full certification
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work effectively on a team
- Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment
