About the Role

As a key member of the University's Data Protection and Freedom of Information team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the institution's compliance with the UK GDPR, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and the Environmental Information Regulations (EIRs). Your primary responsibility will be to provide high-level administrative support to the Data Protection team, handling the day-to-day tasks and activities that enable the team to function effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Data Protection team, including handling correspondence, managing records, and coordinating tasks.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of data protection policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records of data protection activities.
  • Support the team in responding to Freedom of Information requests and Environmental Information requests.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to work confidentially and proactively under pressure. You will also need to have experience of working in a busy customer-focused environment and be able to build relationships with internal stakeholders. Relevant data protection and/or freedom of information professional experience is highly desirable, but not essential.
