Overview

As a Senior Psychiatric Consultant, you will leverage your extensive expertise in managing patients who have experienced acquired brain injuries, neurodegenerative disorders, and complex mental health challenges. The role involves working with individuals who may be under the Mental Health Act or receiving care as informal patients. You will collaborate with various referral sources, including healthcare facilities and legal institutions.

This position offers a remarkable chance to become part of a well-established Neurological Service, working alongside a dedicated team of professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage high-quality patient care, conducting assessments and participating in Care and Treatment Reviews.
  • Provide mentorship and supervision to junior team members, fostering their professional growth.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Mental Health Act and ensure compliance with clinical policies and standards.
  • Engage with external partners to facilitate patient reintegration into the community.
  • Chair multidisciplinary team meetings and ensure effective operation of the Care Programme Approach.
  • Contribute to the training and development of staff across various disciplines.
  • Participate in Clinical Governance initiatives to uphold service quality.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree with MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven leadership capabilities and the ability to drive organizational change.
  • In-depth understanding of contemporary issues in psychiatry and mental health.
  • Experience in a consultant role and management is preferred.
