About the RoleThe Head of Department for Antique Arms and Armour will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our Antique Arms and Armour department. As a senior manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the department's operations, building and maintaining relationships with collectors and dealers, sourcing high-quality consignments, and driving sales growth.
Key Responsibilities- Effectively manage a small team of people, providing direction and guidance to maximize team efficiency
- Catalogue Antique Arms and Armour sales, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of catalogues
- Maintain budgeted commission levels and ensure the department meets all contractual obligations
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of weaponry and armour, manufacturers, and market trends
- Build and maintain relationships with collectors, dealers, and trade bodies to drive sales growth and department success
- Manage the department's budget and resources to achieve maximum impact
- Proven experience in the specialty field and/or in the auction industry
- Strong relationships with established dealers and collectors in the field
- Excellent written and verbal communication and networking skills
- Detail-oriented and well-organized manager with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Computer proficiency and ability to work within our business enterprise software
- Ability to travel as necessary to achieve goals
