Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled midwife to join our team as a Maternity Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the maternity unit, ensuring high-quality patient care and safe practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Provide strategic leadership and management to the maternity unit, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with staff, patients, and stakeholders.
  • Quality and Safety: Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, adhering to Trust policies and procedures, and promoting a culture of safety and excellence.
  • Staff Management: Manage and develop a team of midwives and support staff, providing guidance, support, and coaching to ensure the delivery of excellent patient care.
  • Service Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of maternity services, ensuring alignment with Trust strategies and priorities.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Foster effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders, including patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

  • Leadership and Management Experience: Proven experience in leadership and management roles, with a track record of delivering high-quality patient care and safe practice.
  • Midwifery Qualifications: Registered midwife with current registration with the NMC.
  • Education and Training: Evidence of recent continuing professional development (CPD) and teaching and assessing qualifications.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Leadership and Management Training: Formal leadership and management training, such as a Master's degree in leadership or management.
  • Experience in Maternity Services: Experience working in maternity services, with a strong understanding of the complexities and challenges of this area.
