Kings Hill, Kent, United Kingdom Kent County Council Full time

Position Overview

Kent County Council's Strengthening Independence Service is celebrated for its exceptional support delivered by dedicated practitioners, as highlighted in the Ofsted report.

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a full-time Social Work Assistant within the West Kent Disabled Children's Team 2, part of the Strengthening Independence Service. This team has been operational for over six years, and it is a pivotal moment to join a vibrant and evolving group as we strive to enhance and solidify best practices in social work.

Your role will involve evaluating the needs of disabled children and young individuals aged 0 to 18. The team comprises Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, and Social Work Assistants, and you will be expected to support the Social Workers while managing your own caseload.

Collaboration with colleagues in the Disabled Young People's Social Work teams and other essential organizations, including Health, Education, and the voluntary sector, will be crucial.

As a relatively new service, we offer a comprehensive training and development program, ensuring you receive the necessary support and opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills through regular supervision.

We seek a highly motivated individual with outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities to provide top-quality service to young people with disabilities, along with their families and caregivers. Previous experience in Children's Services is essential.

Kent County Council promotes a hybrid working model, allowing a blend of remote and office work. The contractual base is established, and the team serves a broad geographical area, necessitating flexibility in working across the entire region.

This position is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

As this role is deemed customer-facing, Kent County Council has a statutory obligation under Part 7 of the Immigration Act to ensure that employees possess a sufficient command of spoken English/Welsh for effective job performance, as outlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.
