About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Children's Social Work team at Kent County Council. As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a key role in supporting children and families, using your expertise and transferable skills to make a positive impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support children and families through quality Child and Family Assessments and S47 Investigations
  • Work alongside families who require ongoing Child in Need and Child Protection support
  • Contribute to training initiatives and act as a role model and mentor to less experienced colleagues
  • Proactively maintain awareness of changes in child development theories, legislation, policies, and practices
Requirements
  • Professional registration with a degree in social work with Social Work England CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent
  • Post-qualification experience of working with children and families, including systemic practice
  • Understanding of legislative and policy frameworks
  • Ability to build relationships with colleagues and statutory, voluntary, and private sector agencies

Working with Us

We are a front-line Service of 5 Children's Social Work Teams, with a strong focus on supporting families and improving outcomes for children. We offer a comprehensive learning and development framework and opportunities for progression. Our team is committed to excellence and collaboration, and we welcome applications from experienced social workers who share our values.

We are proud of our Ofsted rating of outstanding and are continuing to develop excellent services. We offer a wide range of work opportunities, including the chance to work across different locations and environments. Our Service is responsible for supporting families from initial referral to Child in Need and Child Protection support, and we work alongside families who require ongoing support.

We place great importance on professional development and enabling you to grow your skills and knowledge to manage a varied caseload. You will be able to work across a range of locations and environments, and to be seconded to or move to other teams. We also offer opportunities for specialist links with partner agencies and representing Children's Services in court.

As a Senior Practitioner, you will contribute to training initiatives and act as a role model and mentor to less experienced colleagues. You will also proactively maintain your awareness of changes in child development theories, legislation, policies, and practices, and share your knowledge to uphold high standards of social work.
