Early Years Teaching Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Years Teaching Assistant to join our team at a primary school in Tower Hamlets. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing personalized assistance to children with diverse learning needs, helping them achieve their full potential.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a vibrant and welcoming school community committed to delivering high-quality education and support. As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will collaborate closely with teachers and support staff to provide focused support in the mornings for students with SEMH needs, including those with ADHD diagnoses and potential self-harming behaviors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide targeted support to students with SEMH needs, including those with ADHD diagnoses and potential self-harming behaviors.
  • Offer essential afternoon assistance, with the flexibility to work across Key Stages 1 and 2 as needed.
  • Use your expertise to foster a nurturing, inclusive learning environment that meets the unique needs of each student.
  • Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement individualized support plans and interventions.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, supporting their social, emotional, and academic development.
What We're Looking For:
  • Previous experience as a Nursery or Early Years Teaching Assistant, or in a similar role, is preferred.
  • A proactive, resilient individual who upholds high standards and strives to bring out the best in pupils.
  • Willingness to assist with nappy changing as needed.
  • A strong commitment to putting the needs of children first, with a focus on addressing individual special educational needs.
  • Solid understanding of SEN, safeguarding, and child protection practices.
  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
