The Company:
Agricultural Recruitment Specialists Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Farm Manager to join their dynamic and growing vegetable farm in East Anglia. The Job:

  1. Assist the Farm Manager in daily operations, including planting, harvesting, and crop management, to ensure the farm's success.
  2. Oversee the maintenance of farm equipment and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  3. Monitor and ensure crop health through regular inspections, pest control, and soil management to maintain environmental responsibility.
  4. Supervise and manage farm workers, ensuring productivity and adherence to safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  5. Coordinate with suppliers, logistics teams, and customers to meet delivery schedules and market demands to ensure timely and efficient delivery of produce.
  6. Implement sustainable farming practices to enhance yield while maintaining environmental responsibility to ensure the farm's long-term success.
  7. Support in budgeting, record-keeping, and reporting on farm activities to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  8. Assist with the planning and rotation of crops to optimise farm production and ensure maximum yield.

The Candidate:

  1. Prior experience in farming, preferably in vegetable crop production, to ensure a strong understanding of agricultural practices and crop cycles.
  2. Strong understanding of agricultural practices, crop cycles, and soil management to ensure effective crop management.
  3. Ability to manage and lead a team effectively to ensure productivity and adherence to safety protocols.
  4. Proficiency in operating farm machinery and tools to ensure efficient and safe operation.
  5. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in agriculture to ensure compliance and maintain a safe working environment.
  6. Flexibility to work longer hours during peak seasons to ensure timely and efficient delivery of produce.
  7. Valid driving license (tractor driving experience is a plus) to ensure safe and efficient transportation of equipment and personnel.
  8. A degree in agriculture, horticulture, or related field to ensure a strong foundation in agricultural practices and principles.
  9. Experience with sustainable farming methods and practices to ensure effective and environmentally responsible farming practices.
  10. Familiarity with farm management software or technologies to ensure efficient and accurate record-keeping and reporting.

The Package:
Competitive salary circa £45,000 DOE
