The Company:
Agricultural Recruitment Specialists Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Farm Manager to join their dynamic and growing vegetable farm in East Anglia. The Job:

  1. Assist the Farm Manager in daily operations, including planting, harvesting, and crop management, to ensure the farm's continued success.
  2. Oversee the maintenance of farm equipment and infrastructure to ensure optimal efficiency and productivity.
  3. Monitor and ensure crop health through regular inspections, pest control, and soil management, to maintain the farm's high standards.
  4. Supervise and manage farm workers, ensuring productivity and adherence to safety protocols, to create a safe and efficient working environment.
  5. Coordinate with suppliers, logistics teams, and customers to meet delivery schedules and market demands, to ensure the farm's products reach the market on time.
  6. Implement sustainable farming practices to enhance yield while maintaining environmental responsibility, to contribute to the farm's commitment to innovation.
  7. Support in budgeting, record-keeping, and reporting on farm activities, to ensure the farm's financial and operational performance is accurately tracked.
  8. Assist with the planning and rotation of crops to optimise farm production, to ensure the farm's continued success.

The Candidate:

  1. Prior experience in farming, preferably in vegetable crop production, to bring valuable knowledge and skills to the role.
  2. Strong understanding of agricultural practices, crop cycles, and soil management, to ensure the farm's high standards are maintained.
  3. Ability to manage and lead a team effectively, to create a safe and efficient working environment.
  4. Proficiency in operating farm machinery and tools, to ensure optimal efficiency and productivity.
  5. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in agriculture, to ensure compliance and maintain the farm's high standards.
  6. Flexibility to work longer hours during peak seasons, to meet the farm's demands.
  7. Valid driving license (tractor driving experience is a plus), to ensure safe and efficient transportation of farm equipment and products.
  8. A degree in agriculture, horticulture, or related field, to bring valuable knowledge and skills to the role.
  9. Experience with sustainable farming methods and practices, to contribute to the farm's commitment to innovation.
  10. Familiarity with farm management software or technologies, to ensure accurate tracking of farm activities and performance.

The Package:
Competitive salary circa £45,000 DOE
