Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Craft Operative to join our East Midlands team, responsible for maintaining and preserving our waterway network. As a multi-skilled bricklayer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and safety of our canals, rivers, and associated infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out maintenance and repairs works to waterway infrastructure, including locks, bridges, and aqueducts.
- Use carpentry expertise to manufacture and refurbish lock gates and associated equipment.
- Operate a variety of machinery, plant, and tools in accordance with safety standards.
- Undertake general housekeeping of personal equipment and workspace.
- Respond to customer queries and requirements, including emergencies.
- Assist with the measurement of locks and lock gates for manufacture.
- Work alongside and supervise volunteers to ensure the Trust has sufficient resources.
- Operate regionally, displaying flexibility to deliver the nationally prioritized works program.
Requirements:
- Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Joinery, Carpentry, Bricklaying).
- Experience handling plant and equipment in group A (e.g., chainsaw, hand power tools, fork lift truck).
- Experience working within a relevant discipline (e.g., Joinery, Carpentry, Bricklaying).
- Experience reading technical drawings.
- Full valid UK driving license.
